Dreams are a different place. There are common dreams, and there are intensely personal dreams. There are helpless nightmares and ingenious lucid dreams. I think the typical dream is a product of the imagination driven by the unconscious psychology, with enough remnant of the self hanging around to make the strange mental event "observable". In a lucid dream much more of the self is present and is sometimes able to take control of the dream and guide it in chosen directions. Common dreams of mine: |
