"People on yachts find it so easy to pray
Through these high-powered telescopes today"
Thank you, Galileo Galilei
I heard the most unifying first shot
Of a civil war ever fired
Can't mend these cracks, our revolution
Every channel treats truth like a liar
People on yachts must daily reflect
Long before they reach their death
And look at the world they are one by one building
By hoarding every fragment of wealth
(But mostly they lie and tell us their stories
About how the poor are the problem
Just users and losers and grubby no-accounts
If there was a barrel they'd be at the bottom)
They're shiny, fresh, but much more worried
About keeping their investments alive
Than whether the systems they put in place
Permit other people to thrive
You can't turn a civil war
Into a revolution
With the influencing heads
corrupting our information
People on yachts have got to wake up
To think to themselves quite daily
If actions in their lives can be justified
To someone driven to desperation
To desperation and terrible decisions
By decisions likely made on a yacht
Far removed from life and real people
Decisions made callous like a shot
I heard the most unifying first shot
Of a civil war ever fired
Can't mend these cracks, our revolution
Every channel treats truth like a liar
Medical freedom is so fundamental
It rivals the privacy in our hearts
But privacy still has to come first
It's required by these healing arts
Privacy requires freedom from worry
About the outcomes of health
Considering how hard it is to cope
with injury or sickness itself
Freedom depends on privacy,
And both will run hand-in-hand
With education, basic nutrition,
Or housing needs of the land
You can't turn a civil war
Into a revolution
While the influencing heads
redirecting every perception
This isn't about capitalism,
We all know raw sewage is vile
This is about whether the public
Can drink the water we provide
And the talking heads are all paid
Making sure they're all out there
Whatever else is on our minds
It's not the water and air
I heard the most unifying first shot
Of a civil war ever fired
Can't mend these cracks, our revolution
Every channel treats truth like a liar
Shots and yachts
Ring out through the night
Libré, , fraternité,
egalité
