I think it is quite likely, and maybe someday we will find a way to prove it, that there is a fundamental difference between the spiritual world and the physical world around us, and that is that it is not predictable. There are not general laws that govern its qualities as we perceive them, and there perhaps is not one true "object" that will be perceived by any and all if they "look" the same way. This does not mean that there might not be some sort of fundamental "rules" that apply its nature. It is just that they will contain in them this fact - they will require or guarantee, that unpredictability is a quality of what they describe. It is very likely that a corollary to this idea is the concept of truth (and of falsity) has no meaning in the spiritual realm. I know this is a bit hard to swallow, since it is where we tend to look for "ultimate truth", but as Bob Geldof once put so succinctly, "the final truth is there is no truth." What we find when we look that closely is something else, and it is hard for our brains to comprehend in terms we are used to using. |
