The Self and Psychology

The conscious self and the unconscious psychology play an eternal game of hide and seek with each other.

The only way the unconscious can "protect" itself is to remain unknown to the conscious mind - the first step to ridding oneself of psychological baggage is to know that it is there. The self, however, would prefer to consider itself to be in the drivers seat, not admitting to unconscious drives and motives unless forced to do so.

Of all the parts of our minds, the unconscious is the one that has the strongest sway over the self, without the self even wanting input from this region. Contrast to the connection between logic and the self.
