I wrapped my car around itself /
just backing away from this cliff /
screaming veins scarred in my lungs /
choking on ripped out back seat steams //
twisted metal cuts my face your /
opened heart throbs out of time /
tightly strapped against the tears /
stained and dark, thick and sour like cream //
fresh blood seeps in around old scars /
tired on empty in the night /
badly worn shoes loose in the trunk /
the rattling shock drowns out your scream //
I tried to make the turn that night /
right against the ruts you left /
and your eyes blinked wide in terror /
crashing glass in the space of dreams
