Leadership speaks first; and upon looking over its shoulder, sees that it said what everyone was thinking but lacked the courage to say. Power speaks last; consolidating the emotion of the people after it identifies it. Leadership is only required when change is necessary; in most times, it is merely a front for consolidating power. Power is averse to risk but creates the illusion of it. True leadership takes risks that are not always apparent. 4/30/02
