Why Ask Me

You know seasons cannot hold us
We have grown past their control
I know reasons you foretold us
Slipping down this memory hole

You know answers I don't see
Why we lose our stories' role
I know chance is loaning me
Time to find our deeper goals

  But why ask me?
  You came here to feel
  The weight of being free
  So why ask me?

You know questions furrowed brows
What do sweat and hope stir
I know lessons teaching hows
And wise, you can't come closer

  (chorus)

You know sunsets cold and heartless
Always shutter mortal tolls
I know moments, two in darkness
When we weld our willing souls

  (chorus)

You know seasons cannot hold us
We have grown past all control
I know reasons they foretold this
Slipping time's noose' chafing hold

  (chorus)
