The Door Open
When I came home and found the door open
And nothing much as I left it
I walked in and found the note you wrote me
And nothing has been the same since
You said I didn't listen - except when I wanted to
That I only kissed you when I wanted more - from you
And taking care of me was too much to swallow
Along with your pride went behind you the door
I looked upstairs and so many details -
The drawers that were empty and photographs gone -
Too many things not moved now but missing
All the things that made this a home
(chorus)
I came back down and noticed the kitchen
The recipe books and the best frying pans
The spices were gone and so was the rice
I thought more of this was mine
(chorus)
Then out back where the neighbors' kids play
Even the flowers have lost, all their blooms
I can't understand what happened that day
Nothing has been the same since
(chorus)
(repeat first verse)
